Models Direct is often approached by families wondering whether modelling together might be something they would enjoy.

We tell them, yes, modelling can be fun and is a great way to earn a little extra money but there are a number of factors to consider first.
So, if it is something you are considering, why not work your way through this checklist before deciding whether to apply?
1. Is everyone happy to be involved?

Models Direct loves to hear from all sorts of families. We are a diverse, 21st-century agency and the one mum, one dad and 2.4 children group is not the only one we consider to be a modern family. We are keen to receive applications from families of all sorts, including those with two dads, two mums, more than two generations, single parents and step-parents – but you must be sure that everyone is happy to be involved.
2. Is everyone confident and relaxed?

All our models get first assignment nerves and the more jobs you attend the more everyone’s confidence will grow. But we do need to be sure that all members of your family will be able to step out in front of the camera on the day. The photographers and crews are very used to working with children and will know how to coax them out of their shells and encourage them to relax into it. In fact, very often the children will forget the cameras are there because they are having such a good time! But if your child suffers from exceptional shyness and Mum hates nothing more than being photographed, modelling probably isn’t for you.
3. Would you enjoy new and varied experiences?
No two modelling jobs are ever the same. For one family modelling assignment you might be filmed together petting the animals on a farm while for another you might be asked to model clothing in a studio. That is the fun of modelling, but to enjoy it you have to be open to new experiences.
4. Would you like to travel?
Our family models are often asked whether they would enjoy a day out or even an overnight stay somewhere else in the country. Occasionally they are also taken abroad – all expenses paid of course! All our models are always free to turn down any assignment if it doesn’t fit in with their routines or other plans, but before applying to join us it is worth considering whether you and your family would think about travelling if it is an option.
5. Would you like to spend more time together?
We all know that the family that plays together, stays together and what could be more fun than modelling together? But perhaps you already spend a lot of your free time together doing exciting activities and you feel that is enough. Perhaps you would be more interested in exploring the possibility of modelling separately, as child, female and male models? The choice is obviously yours, but, what we would say is that none of our family models ever tell us that working like this as a team strains their relationships. In fact, they love being able to do something different while spending quality time together.

This is what Natalie told us after a shoot for Microsoft:
“My whole family did a shoot for a global tech company and everything was so perfectly organised.
“The staff at Models Direct were so helpful, especially Marie, and everyone on set was lovely.
“We had our children with us and we were all looked after so well.
“It was a great experience which we thoroughly enjoyed.
“We would definitely recommend Models Direct!
“Thanks again for the opportunity!”
