Spring Fashion for Expectant Mums

If you’re expecting, welcome to the world of everything-to-do-with-babies, and a massive congratulations from our Models Direct team!

Whether you were expecting the unexpected or planned, there’s one thing for certain, your life will change. We don’t mean to scare you, by the way! It’ll be bigger, better and more wonderful with a little human being following your footsteps, learning directly from you and weaving their way through all the learning and developmental stages of life.

Another thing that will change will not only be your appetite and what you can and can’t eat, but your wardrobe too. With a growing bump, your clothes will need to adjust. That doesn’t mean it has to all be frumpy and unfashionable though. Rihanna’s pregnant too and the “maternity clothing” web searches are rocketing.

A wardrobe that takes care of your bump and your style this season is why we’re here. We’re taking inspo from pregnant model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley too as she recently snapped some gorgeous looks with her bump on social. From occasionwear to casual streetwear, she was rocking all the looks like a boss.

So without further ado, let’s unlock what this year’s spring fashion unfolds for maternity wear.

1. Stripes galore

Stripes are extremely popular in the maternity world. We’ve seen so many tops and some dresses feature this classic pattern particularly in white and blue. The degree of thickness is also differing but we’ve picked up that the thin stripes are more dominant. If you opt for a top, they’re great to team up with maternity leggings and jeans along with some comfy sneakers and if it’s a dress you’ve got your eye for, ankle boots and again, sneakers (because you can never go wrong with them) are great pieces to incorporate.

2. Earthy tones

We’re seeing a lot of gorgeous tones this season with plenty of whites, greys, blues and greens sweeping across the maternity categories. If you like this colour scheme, you’re in for a treat! There are lots to pick from so you won’t be limited in what you can choose from. Tops, dresses, trousers, jackets and coats (there’s more, we promise!) have been

splashed with these tones in this early part of the year.

3. Animal prints

Bringing wildlife into the fashion sphere isn’t new but with the wonderful Dalmatian, zebra and leopard animal prints we’ve seen, we are in love! This print exudes playful, adventurous and fun (even when you might not be feeling that way!). Enjoy getting back to nature with these inspiring patterns.

Bumping for joy with maternity modelling

Just because your body is changing, it doesn’t mean you have to settle for baggy clothes. There are lots to pick from and we hope this reading has helped motivate you to look online or walk through your favourite clothing aisle. Brands to look out for are Next maternity, H&M maternity, M&S maternity, Seraphine and Zara maternity.

Being pregnant is an amazing journey, even when there are difficulties faced along the way, the end is priceless – a little bundle of joy to cuddle in your arms. Wishing you a lovely pregnancy from all our team – Models Direct.
