As the camera clicks and the lights shine, it snaps overload time with photographic modelling. Models Direct knows a lot about this modelling category. We’ve been in the biz for over thirty years and we’ve learnt so much along the way (and we still do!)
Okay, so you’re interested in modelling and being photographed, right? Our blog will explain how this type of modelling is your gateway to the UK’s marketing scene.
Let’s go!
You’re being noticed
Whether you’ve got a baby model or you yourself are a model (any age is completely fine), and you’ve been hired to star in a client’s marketing, then you’re being noticed! This is the first major step into the modelling as you’re kick-starting your journey and what lies ahead will only bring bigger experiences and new opportunities.
Photoshoots can considerably vary
No two photoshoots are the same. Similar, yes, but not the same. This is the beauty of being a photographic model. You could be booked for anything from a photoshoot as a family in the middle of a major supermarket cafe just as the Semedos were with Morrisons, to teen models participating in a new educational campaign for Scanning Pens.
Our opportunities are vast and plenty include photoshoots and leveraging your presence as a photographic model.
Network, network, network
Create a good impression by being slightly earlier than the time given by your client so that you don’t turn up to your assignment photoshoot in a huff and puff. You’ll give yourself time to network by meeting and greeting everyone you’ll be working with and have the chance to chat with the industry professionals who you’ll be interacting with for the duration of the photoshoot.

Add the experience to your CV and your socials
Whether you’ve worked with a startup or industry giant, you can add this to your CV. It’s likely you’re active on social media, so you can add posts or reels about your experience.

Patricia Benn was hired by Symphony Group
Last week I had a wonderful opportunity to work with another colleague from Talent Management – Herb – and a delightful three-year-old and his parents. His father was in a wheelchair and the whole exercise was to produce photographs for a brochure promoting kitchens for people in wheelchairs. We started with ‘family group’ shots with Herb and I acting as grandparents. We all thoroughly enjoyed our session of playing snap and the photographer seemed pleased with the results. This session was in a very impressive photographic studio. The next day I arrived at the Symphony management suite for a photo shoot of the kitchens to be promoted – met the person who had done much of the planning for this – himself in a wheelchair and had an amazing day demonstrating all the gadgets that would help independent living. The photographer and his assistant were so helpful and knowledgeable it was easy to follow instructions and the person who had planned the two days was very organised and ‘switched on’ – she seemed to know every dimension of each piece of equipment and furniture! Again – the support from the team at Talent Management was there if needed and everything went according to plan – thank you.
Gary Greenslade (Z256946) was hired by Vicon Motion Systems for photographic work. He said:
“Hi, Molly,
The assignment with Vicon was my best to date. The team from Vicon, the team from DRMC Stanford Hall and the photographic team were all incredibly pleasant and helpful. Great direction from the photographic team which made the day very easy and enjoyable. Some of the photos which I have seen to date look amazing so much so that I had to ask ‘Is that really me?!’
Fantastic day, a great experience and once again a massive thank you to you and the team at Talent Management.”
Patsy (BHPC-4986) enjoyed her modelling assignment. Here’s what she had to say:
“This was my first ever shoot therefore wasn’t sure what to expect. The photographer and professor involved in the project were extremely welcoming and put us at ease.
They suggested poses depicted through photographic examples, which I and my male model partner (also a newbie) found very facilitative. We were encouraged to play around with the poses which we enjoyed doing. The photographer commented that we appeared very natural.
The shoots went smoothly and in fact we not only finished over half an hour early but more shots than originally planned were able to be taken.
Overall this was an excellent experience that proved to be interesting and done in a pleasant, informative way – as the professor was happy to tell us about the nature of the project. In the end, the photographer commented that it had been fun. I agreed!”
