As we continue to experience a thriving commercial modelling working life, we know that we can’t expect our models to fulfil all our jobs all the time. Our clients need to have a choice of talent from which they select their preferred models. Whilst we’re in the best position of any modelling employment agency in terms of number of clients and models, we can’t be complacent. Our success means we continue to improve, and this means appealing to everyone involved in the industry.
Male modelling is a huge part of our agency. It’s been a mainstay of our success – and like several types of modelling, it just gets more popular in various assignments across the country.
If you think that you can’t become a model, rip the instruction manual in half and dispose of it. There are no limitations to becoming a Models Direct model. We don’t ask for much, apart from boundless enthusiasm, dedication and the ability to stay positive and realistic. We have never asked models for modelling experience to be registered with us, and we have never charged for photos because we’re a government-regulated agency and not a showcase agency.

So, becoming a male model with us is very attainable. What you may be a little unsure of is how you can become one, and what male modelling might involve. Let’s approach these separately.

First, don’t apply “blind”. Gather as much information and advice as possible, which can be found on our website. We’re extremely open, and it’s beneficial for all parties for us to post regular updates, reviews, blogs and general advice for both experienced models and newcomers.

As noted, experience isn’t a prerequisite, so any male between the ages of 18-50 years is classed as a male model (our child / teenager and mature models continue to excel, but these two are separate types).
If you fall in this age bracket and you have a keen interest after researching the commercial modelling industry, it could open several doors to a wider career. You’ll have to register with us in the first instance, which takes just a few minutes (complete with two clear headshot photos).
When we’ve received your application, one of our team members at Models Direct HQ in Norwich will be in touch to discuss how we progress from your application.
What you can expect as a Models Direct male model
When any male applies with us, they’ll be on board with the UK’s most preferred modelling employment agency. When we say “preferred”, we mean we work with the largest number of brands of any UK agency. They trust us to provide them the right models for their marketing campaigns, and they know that “real people” give them the opportunity to appeal to the public, which is the essence of commercial modelling.

All our brands have access to a model’s portfolio, which we give registered models access to. When we put forward models for relevant jobs, our clients can look at a model’s looks and skills and choose the right ones for themselves. An agency’s responsibilities lie with putting a model’s interest and welfare first, as well as actively recommending them for work. Without reputable agencies, a lot of models might not even be seen by the decision makers – i.e. the clients.
We have the following as clients:
- Large retail giants
- Clothing companies
- Leisure / holiday brands
- Financial institutions
- Charities
- Hospitality chains
…and a just about any other category that requires male models. It’s this diversity that makes us stand out from the other agencies, and in turn means we can offer a larger number of models varied, well-paid jobs in all corners of the UK. Take a look here for examples of how our models have helped our clients.
So, male models can expect:
- A professional team representing them and their interests
- The very best chance of being seen by our clients
- The best paid fees around
