If you are already modelling or are considering joining a modelling agency it is essential that you have a full understanding of exactly what a photo agent is.
This is because a photo agent is not an agent at all.
Models Direct is not a photo agent.
Models Direct is a genuine, fully vetted, regulated and registered government employment agency.
This means we can legitimately seek work for our models, offer them bookings and then pay them for the assignments they complete for us.
It is very simple – and we have been doing it for a very long time!

But what is a photo agent?
A photo agent is not really an agent at all.
It is a company or individual purporting to be an agency but in fact not having the legality or legitimacy to operate like one.
At worst, they may be convincing those hoping to become models to part with vast sums of money for absolutely no service at all.
At best, they will simply be “showcasing” someone’s photos on their website in the vain hope that a company looking for models might happen upon them.
But, take heed, this is highly unlikely!
We know, because we have decades of experience in the modelling agency and we have an in-depth understanding of how it works!
These so-called photo agents make their money by persuading modelling hopefuls to pay for “professional” photography.
OK, if you are lucky there is a chance you may end up with some half-decent shots but these will cost far, far more than you should be paying for them.
Furthermore, genuine agencies such as ourselves do not require professional photography.
We just need to see some good shots, taken by a family member or a friend on a camera or phone, that show us what you look like and give us a hint of your character.
